Have you observed athletes, entertainers or entrepreneurs that are uber successful, who did not spend a lot of time, maybe just the minimum in school? It’s something to think about as you weigh how to allocate your dollars and energy on higher education. A formal education teaches you a body of knowledge. It grooms you on how to think, how to be resourceful, how to endure challenges. What it may not do for you is open up lucrative income. That part is going to be up to you. Part skill set, part creativity, partly what you embody.
It’s not one’s pursuit of a particular course of study that guarantees open doors. Instead, it’s who you know you are that translates into opportunities. Go to school? Yes, but take the limits off yourself after you do, and go for what’s in your heart.
Whether you made New Years resolutions or not, It’s still early enough to set a solid course for yourself. If you want progress, the work starts within. This daily devotional is your companion guide for living in 2016. It will ground you, provide encouragement, and give you fresh insight!
Carry it In your tote bag, keep it at your desk, on your night stand, or read it on the train. Invest some time in yourself early each day. Shore up your spirit and prepare to thrive!
Watch what you put in your body. Food is fuel for life. If the food you’re eating makes you feel bad, reconsider your nutritional choices. Take the time to determine what foods don’t agree with you and search for a more beneficial alternative. You can’t do life well without health.
Hi Blog Community! I wanted to share an excerpt from my daily devotional with you. It will be out in paperback, just in time for Christmas. Enjoy, and like it if it resonates with you.

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8 (ESV)

Some years ago as I sat in a meeting with tech staff, someone said. “What else can you offer besides words?” I still chuckle at that question when I consider the power of words, written and spoken. Right now people around the globe are scrolling Instagram and other forms of social media seeking a dose of inspiration, looking for a morale booster or a glimmer of hope. Some are looking for something else, but that’s not my audience.
I’ve discovered that words are the turn-key to many of life’s significant events. “I do”. “It’s a boy!” “No thank you.” “I quit.” “I love you.” “I hate you.” “I’m leaving.” “You’re welcome.” “You’re hired.” “Sold!” “It’s Yours!”
Oh yes, words alone carry significant weight. What words are driving your life and thoughts today?
Go ahead and make your partner, mate, husband or wife your God. You’ll be disappointed soon. Life is bigger than your primary relationship. Think about it and pursue healthy balance. Nothing lasts that is suffocated. #Counsel4Living

Try not to create a climate of “have to” around you. Allow that special someone to be and to do what genuinely comes from their heart. Their expression of care for you may not be presented according to your wishes, but learn from it.
1. How to offer your partner what you’d like to receive.
2. Who you’re connected to and how they express themselves.
3. What really works for you and how to communicate that effectively for desired results.
Make it a good day. ❤️ #Counsel4Living

Fourteen years after the call to write a book.
Two and a half years after my last formal assignment.
It’s not a bird or a plane…. Get where this is going? Lol.
It’s the book! 🎉👏🙌
Yes, One A Day Nuggets For Success is available! I hope it speaks to you. I want it to make you think: “Who am I? Why am I here? Am I fulfilling my purpose? How do I start? Do I have to be what they say I am? How can I move from where I am to where I want to be?” and much more.
This book is why I got a Master’s degree. It’s why I got a license to counsel. Yes, I’ve used those credentials for other reasons. Those reasons all worked together to produce this book.
It’s an e-book,… for now. Yes, I’m still evolving also :). So let’s journey together. Starting today, and for the next 365 days, take my nuggets One A Day and let’s see where we end up!
Love you all,
Happy New Year everyone! 🎉
Ok, so here we are in 2015. Let’s start with gratitude. If you’re reading this, it means you’ve been selected to continue something this year, so let’s be good at it!
Last night I saw a lot of cheers, jumping up and down, toasts and kisses to greet the new year, and God bless them all! I took a quieter approach, with great contentment.
Now that it’s January 1st, for at least the next thirty days there will be much talk about resolving to do this or that for the rest of the year. I believe resolving to do something for a whole year in advance is a big chunk to chew. Instead, I’d rather set smaller achievable goals in increments throughout the year. If doing this suits you as well, we can start here and build on our goals all year-long.
There are some prerequisites that must be laid in the foundation of any solid goal. I’m starting here today:
1. Know thyself.
2. Do others no harm.
You’re welcome to join me!

Grace and Peace to you and yours this year. #Counsel4Living
